Extension for Homebuyer Tax Credit?

On August 10th the National Association of Home Builders called on Congress to extend the Homebuyer Tax Credit. The summary is they have asked for the Homebuyer Tax Credit to be extended thru November 30, 2010 AND to include all purchases of primary residences, not just first time homebuyers.

$8k Tax Credit Reminder

So, it has been clarified. All along we knew the $8k tax credit expires December 1st. But, we didnt know if it was December 1st at 11:59pm or if it was at midnight the night before. It has now clear that this amazing tax credit goes away if you don’t settle (take ownership of) on the property by 11:59 on November 30, 2009.

Real Estate Tax Credit

OK.. i’m getting a lot of calls from potential buyers that seem to be mis-informed about the tax credit.
First-time buyers can claim a credit worth $8,000 – or 10% of the home’s value, whichever is less – on their 2008 or 2009 taxes. Please see entire blog post for answers to the most popular questions about the tax credit.
